Drombeg Stone Circle - An ancient stone circle in West Cork
This is Drombeg stone circle. It's older than the pyramids of Egypt and Stonehenge. When it was excavated in the 1950's they found the remains of a youth that was burried from thousands of years ago and a yern. I found a lovely poem that pays respect to the young person. Here it is.
Long you slept in your ring of stone,
Watched over by hill and mist.
The earth a shroud round ancient youth,
The skies an unchanged wish.
Whose hands did last yours hold? We ask,
Whose name did once you bear?
I wonder how they’d feel to know
That still, today, we care.
